Anxiety Treatment in Warrnambool

What is anxiety?

Anxiety can be exhausting, overwhelming and at times terrifying. You may find yourself anxious about public speaking, socialising, physical illness, getting things wrong, losing a relationship or any number of specific phobias. But you might also notice a more general and pervasive sense of anxiety which you can’t tie to anything in particular.

People who are anxious often state that they have been worriers for much of their lives. Worry is a central part of anxiety disorders because it causes us to catastrophize and ruminate. Anxious people have a disproportionate focus on the future, and are constantly asking “what if?” questions. You may be aware that you worry an awful lot, but you just don’t know what to do about it. That’s where we come in.

Signs and Symptoms

Severe anxiety can be an awful experience. Even milder forms of anxiety, when left untreated, can cause a significant amount of distress and snowball out of control. Anxiety shows up differently for different people, but some common signs and symptoms include:

  • Restlessness

  • Feeling easily fatigued

  • Concentration or memory difficulties

  • Irritability

  • Muscle tension

  • Sleep disturbance
